California girl grows up in Los Angeles, surrounded by close friends and family, great job opportunities, and suddenly decides to leave it all behind to start over. To be honest, I never thought this would be my story. I always said I could live anywhere for a year or two, but I also always figured that if I’d make a big move it’d be with someone else by my side. Not entirely alone.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had plenty of adventures in my home town. Late night house parties in the Brentwood and the Hollywood hills, running to the Sprinkles ATM at 2AM, watching the sunrise over the LA skyline, beach days in Newport and closing down bar after bar after bar - that’s what you get when they close at 2am.
There have been countless perfect days with friends and family, walking on the beach in the middle of winter, bbqing by pools in the summer, and yet as I came to a new cornerstone in my life this year, something changed. I had this urge to start over.
Where to move? Well, as much as I’d love to jump over to London and live in Europe again, New York has been calling my name for a long time. Since everyone’s favorite question has been, why New York? Because why not? It’s the city that makes you or breaks you, the city where all of your dreams can come true. And at the age of 30, I finally decided to jump in.
